The joint session of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan was held on 12 November in Tashkent. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov participated in the session.

Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of the republican organizations, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations, as well as correspondents of the local and foreign media attended the session.

President Islam Karimov presented a report at the session titled “The Concept of the further deepening of the democratic reforms and the formation of the civil society in the country”.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia Andrus Ansip, at Oqsaroy on November 2.

Welcoming the guest, the head of state expressed delight with the current state and level of development of Uzbek-Estonian relations.

“We consider Estonia a rapidly developing nation in terms of its developed infrastructure, as well as transit and transport opportunities the country disposes today,” President Karimov suggested.

“We have every reason to use available opportunities in order to build bilateral relations that would serve mutually beneficial goals.”

Welcoming the guest, the head of our state noted the significant potential of Uzbekistan and Qatar to boost the bilateral cooperation.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has paid an official visit to Turkmenistan on the invitation of that country’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

On arrival in Ashgabat it was evident that a lot of beautifying work had been done in the city prior to the visit by the Uzbek President. The airport and streets were garlanded with flags of two nations along with welcome banners in Uzbek and Turkmen.

Turkmen President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov welcomed Uzbek leader at official ceremony held at the international airport of Ashgabat. The honorary guard was formed in the honor of the high guest. The state anthems of the two states were played.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov is to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan October 19-20 on the invitation of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov of Turemenistan.

Expansion of Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation, pressing issues of regional and international politics of common interest are expected to be discussed during the visit.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov visited October 5 the Republic of Karakalpakstan in order to review the ongoing socio-economic reforms, constructive and creative work carried out in the region.

The reforms, conducted in all areas serve to improve the welfare and upbringing the healthy and comprehensively developed generation. The anti-crisis program measures are also aimed at these objectives and serve as an important factor in ensuring the stable growth of social and economic development within the conditions of global economic crisis.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived in Tashkent on an official visit on 27 September on the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

The strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood of peoples of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, the proximity of cultures, languages, religions and traditions provide a good basis for a broad and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. The relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan after their independence rose to a new, qualitatively higher level. The relations based on the principles of trust, mutual understanding and respect are valued in Tashkent and Baku. The heads of the two states hold meetings on a regular basis.

The ceremony of the official meeting of the President of Azerbaijan was held in Kuksaroy residence on 27 September. The guard of honor was lined up to welcome the honorary guest. Islam Karimov and Ilham Aliyev rose to the podium. The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were glorified, after which the heads of the states reviewed the guard of honor.

In one-on-one, the two leaders had a conversation, exchanged views on the status and prospects of bilateral relations and discussed the bilateral cooperation within the frame of international organizations, problems of regional and international significance, as well as many other issues of mutual interest.

During the visit, issues of expansion of Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan cooperation, as well as important problems of regional and international character will be discussed.
