President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Katsuya Okada, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, at Oqsaroy August 8.

Welcoming the guest, the head of our nation expressed satisfaction with the current state and the level of Uzbek-Japanese relations in various spheres.

“The extent and nature of our present-day interaction has been advancing in the spirit of the 2002 Joint Statement on Friendship, Strategic Partnership and Cooperation, and conforms to the role played today by Japan in the economic and political development of the contemporary world”, Islam Karimov stressed.

Welcoming the guest, the head of our state expressed satisfaction with the current state and positive dynamics of bilateral relations developing in the spirit of partnership and mutual understanding.

Today, political, trade and economic, cultural, educational and many other areas are defined as priority tracks in Uzbek-American relations. A good illustration to this have been the effect of a round table held recently in Washington, DC, that was attended by representatives of leading US business circles willing to explore investment opportunities in our republic, long-term projects and the Free Industrial and Economic Zone in Navoi being successfully built in our country.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Vice Chancellor of Federal Republic of Germany, Minister of Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle, on July 15 at Oqsaroy.

Welcoming the guest, the head of our state underscored the high level of mutual understanding and confidence reached between the two nations that is confirmed by the persistent progress in Uzbek-German cooperation in many spheres.

Germany is one of the key political, economic and trade partners of our country in Western Europe. Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic cooperate closely in bolstering regional security and stability in Central Asia. Advancing relations between the two nations has also facilitated enhancing the mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union.

At the invitation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao arrived June 9 in our country on state visit.

Official welcoming ceremony of Chinese President has been hosted at Kuksaroy June 9. The guard of honor lined up for the distinguished guest. Then Islam Karimov and Hu Jintao rose to the podium, followed by state anthems of Uzbekistan and China being played flamboyantly. The two leaders reviewed the guard of honor.

During the presidents’ one-to-one meeting, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to advancing the Uzbek-Chinese relations, as well as regional and international topics of common interest.
