State-calls to Uzbekistan

Islam Karimov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with secretaries of security councils of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, SCO Secretary General Muratbek Imanaliyev, and Director of SCO RATS Executive Committee Dzhenisbek Dzhumanbekov, in Oqsaroy on April 23.

The head of state expressed satisfaction with the high level of interaction achieved in such areas of SCO activity as elaboration and implementation of complex multilateral actions to provide for regional security. The role of national security councils of this reputable international organization’s member countries is invaluable in joint coordination of those measures.

While articulating on the burgeoning credibility and significance of SCO efforts in the current circumstances, President Islam Karimov stressed its growing position in addressing regional and global security issues, combating international terrorism, separatism and extremism, drug trafficking and other challenges and threats in the strategically important Central Asian region.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with David H. Petraeus, Commander of United States Central Command, in Oqsaroy on April 6.

Welcoming the visitor, the head of state underscored the solid and steadfast level of current Uzbek-American relations, prospects for their further development in constructive and equal manner.

Today, Uzbekistan and the United States cooperate in addressing the situation in Afghanistan and socio-economic reconstruction of that country. Our republic provides practical assistance to its southern neighbor in the supply of electricity, construction materials and soft commodities. Uzbekistan is involved in building and organizing Afghanistan’s transport infrastructure.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, in Oqsaroy on April 5.

Welcoming the guest, the head of state pointed out the high level of rewarding cooperation of the republic with the UN on a number of critical areas of regional development.

“Mr Secretary General, I consider your visit to the region, including Uzbekistan, a landmark occasion and evidence to immense concern of the UN with our region. The visit constitutes a fine opportunity to identify the issues in providing for stability and security, sustainable development, use of water and energy as well as mineral resources, protection of environment, and many other subjects that bother the peoples in the region,” said the head of nation.

“I consider your visit to the states of the region, including Uzbekistan, as a significant event and as a proof of the high interest of the UN to our region. This is a good opportunity to consider the issues of ensuring stability and security, sustainable development, use of water-energy and mineral resources, environmental protection and many other issues that concern the people of the region,” the President of the country said.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Sergey Ivanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, in Oqsaroy on March 31.

Welcoming the guest, the Head of state expressed condolence once again to the leadership and people of the Russian Federation due to the death of civilians as a result of terrorist attacks in Moscow subway on March 29. With regard to the current state of Uzbek-Russian relations, President of Uzbekistan noted the steadily high level of their development in many areas.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Trade and Industry Minister of Oman Maqbul bin Ali bin Sultan at Oqsaroy on 22 March.

Welcoming the guest, the Head of state said relations between Uzbekistan and Oman have been developing steadily.

President Karimov’s state visit to Oman in October 2009 facilitated to raise the bilateral cooperation to a higher new level, and about twenty documents were signed during that visit.

The Head of nation Islam Karimov has met with Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev on March 17.

At the official welcoming ceremony at Kuksaroy, a guard of honor lined up in tribute to the guest, and national anthems of the two countries got played when the heads of state raised to the podium. Presidents Karimov and Nazarbayev walked by the guard of honor.

At the talks tet-a-tet, the leaders discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, cooperation within international organizations, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Welcoming the prominent US diplomat, the head of Uzbekistan expressed the attitude of the country toward further development of Uzbek-American relations on a constructive basis to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Today, Uzbekistan supplies this country with energy, soft commodities, builds transportation system and provides aid in different spheres of socioeconomic reconstruction. For example, the volume of Uzbek energy supplied to Afghanistan has increased several times this year...

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Haruhiko Kuroda at Oqsaroy, February 16.

Welcoming the guest, the Head of state held that Uzbekistan has actively interacted with numerous authoritative international financial institutions, yet it attaches a particular magnitude to the expansion of cooperation with the ADB.

A long-standing and reliable partner of the republic, the ADB has consistently elaborated – together with Uzbek specialists – and implemented a strategy of cooperation with our nation in various sectors of economy. The 43rd Annual Meeting of ADB, to be called in early May this year in Tashkent, will be the Bank’s first such gathering in the Central Asian region, in acknowledgement by the international community of the model of economic reforms constantly perfected in the republic.

According to Head of our state, the visit constitutes a good opportunity to exchange views on issues of both bilateral and multilateral nature in order to raise the level of mutual relations.

Today, both countries develop their cooperation in political, trade, economic, cultural, and many other spheres.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has met with the Prime Minister of Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Usenov at Oqsaroy, December 28.

Greeting the guest with appointment to a position of Prime Minister, Head of Uzbekistan noted that the participation of Kyrgyz delegation in the joint Uzbek-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission on such a level is remarkable in the efforts to improve mutual cooperation.

Today, developing bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on constructive base is a priority. Widening trade and economic as well as cultural cooperation is also essential.
