President Islam Karimov visited educational establishments commissioned in Tashkent on the eve of the 19th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.
The head of state visited the capitally reconstructed building of the Viktor Uspenskiy Republican Specialized Musical Academic Lyceum. The new edifice has been erected on the premises of the former Republican Musical College. The work was carried out in the purpose of fostering a comprehensively advanced generation, to perfect elementary specialized musical education and, basing on that, to raise the quality of training highly qualified professionals in music art and culture.
The lyceum has got four educational blocks designed for 900 students, as well as a hostel for 200 persons and three canteens with 210 seats. All study rooms are provided with musical instruments and modern equipment of 64 types. The lyceum is a 12-year educational institution, providing uninterrupted musical education, which consists of 9 years of school and 3 years of lyceum.
The establishment boasts plenty of students who are winners and laureates of various international music contests and festivals.
“Such grand successes of our children on world stages have filled all of us with pride and admiration,” President Karimov said at the site. “This is hardly within the reach of every people’s children. We inadvertently ask ourselves, Could we imagine 20 years ago that our kids would take part in prestigious international competitions, amaze and astound people? Is it not the good of our independence?!
Uzbekistan’s leader stressed specially that young musicians should always strive to become deserving successors of great ancestors. While on stage they should bear in mind that they are the posterity of the great people and it would be a foremost incentive for their triumph.
The head of nation also visited Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
Islam Karimov got acquainted with a brand new Spark, a car launched into production at Asaka automobile plant this August. The President left his signature on the Spark displayed at the university.
“Thanks to independence, we have great opportunities like producing cars,” Islam Karimov said. “At the same time, together with developing the national automotive industry, we have to pay a priority attention to training specialists able to construct cars in accordance with modern requirements.”
The educational institution created in accordance with President’s decree of 27 April 2009, can accommodate 1,400 students. The learning is in the English language. Along with locally trained tutors, leading specialists from Turin Polytechnic University conduct classes.
The university has schools of mechanical engineering, automobile construction, industrial production and economics, industrial architecture and design, information and communication technologies and automated management systems in industry and energy.
President Karimov stopped to have a look at an info-kiosk, where students may check out university news and notices as well as class schedules. They may also request the desired literature in the library. It is interesting to note that this device was worked out in the university.
A technological park created at the university aims to enrich the practical knowledge and skills of the students. This University hosts technology parks of such major corporations as Fiat, General Motors, AlItalia, Compaq, Ferrari, IBM, Michelin, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, Phillips, Pirelli and Siemens.
“Opening of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent has been an important step to our great future. This institution will train specialists in car industry and professionals for other important economy sectors. There is a great deal of modern higher educational institutions. Yet this university is the only one in Uzbekistan offering learning standards of Turin Polytechnic University that is rated first in Italy and seventh in Europe,” concluded the head of the state.
