President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on 10 June at Kuksaroy met with President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, who is in Tashkent to attend the summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

“I am pleased to welcome you in Tashkent on the eve of the major SCO forum and I am convinced that the upcoming meetings and negotiations within it will have a high and rather constructive note,” Islam Karimov suggested.

Dmitry Medvedev conveyed his high appraisal of Uzbekistan’s presidency in SCO and expressed confidence that negotiations within the summit will be pretty meaningful and useful and undoubtedly facilitate enhancement of international stability and regional cooperation.

The two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to Uzbek-Russian relations, as well as regional and international topics. Presidents Karimov and Medvedev drew attention to the consistent fostering of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, cultural, humanitarian and many other areas. Uzbekistan and Russia interact effectively also on multilateral format within the framework of many international bodies.
